Southwest Gas Corp. of Las Vegas on Wednesday received permission from the state Public Utilities Commission to raise rates by $25.5 million.
The commission -- with a 3-0 vote -- granted the increase requested by the company in an annual "purchased gas adjustment" case submitted last summer. The increase allows the company to recover the cost of purchasing gas between November 2002 and October 2003.
Commissioners rejected the company's request to make monthly rate adjustments instead of the current annual adjustments.
