Fashion show will help Child Haven

The foundation Through the Eyes of a Child will present a Tea and Fashion Show from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Red Rock Country Club, 2466 Grassy Springs Place.

The foundation provides programs and services to the children living at Child Haven and those making the transition to foster care.

Garage sale will benefit Great Danes

The Great Dane Rescue of Las Vegas, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medical care and new homes to the Great Danes rescued in Las Vegas, will hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 3338 Flying Colt Court, North Las Vegas.

The garage sale will offer furniture, clothes, appliances, collectibles and knick knacks, and baby and children's items.

Come out and Strut Your Mutt

The 16th annual Strut Your Mutt will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Dog Fanciers Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road.

Contests include the newspaper fetch, puppy love, dress your dog, owner look-a-like, best costume, howling and more.

Admission is $4 for K-9 contestants with owner; $2 for general public; or a donation of bagged dry dog food for local animal shelters.

Fund-raiser set for Down syndrome

The Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada will hold its 15th annual Festival of Trees and Lights "One World One Wish" fund-raiser event at 6 p.m. Saturday at Paris Las Vegas.

The event will feature a live auction, gala dinner, specialty martinis, a jazz band, and the chance to win a 2004 Corvette,

As the major fund-raiser for the organization, the event has been an essential element in helping the organization meet its mission to enlighten the public by promoting a positive understanding of Down syndrome in the community and be a source of support, and providing information and education for families and individuals affected by Down syndrome.

Metro museum sets Evening With Stars

The Metropolitan Police Museum Association of Nevada will host its Evening With the Stars Art Show Exhibition from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Art Encounter, 3979 Spring Mountain Road.

A raffle drawing will be held during the event. The proceeds from the fund-raising event will be used to purchase a museum facility and maintain the vintage memorabilia.

Prizes include one week of accommodations in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, golf passes, spa services, massages, manicures, show tickets and more.
