Nevada Power has given 20 listening centers, valued at close to $4,000, to Myrtle Tate Elementary School to help boost students' reading skills, improve language acquisition and offer a fun alternative to help students enjoy literature.
The presentation was made in celebration of a four-year partnership with the school.
Employees also delivered plastic pouches filled with school supplies to every student in the school.
Throughout their four-year partnership with the school, Nevada Power employees have stopped by the school on a weekly basis to read to students, provide materials and labor to build a desert tortoise habitat, collect goods for Thanksgiving baskets and support school festivals.
The partnership between Nevada Power and Myrtle Tate is coordinated through the Focus Schools Project of the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Office. About 110 local businesses and other groups are currently involved in the program to benefit 76 Focus Schools, of which 57 are paired with one or more business/community partners.
