Letter: Water we use returns to lake
Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 | 8:31 a.m.
I feel it is time to point out a fact concerning our water shortage that nobody has seen fit so far to point out: In the Las Vegas Valley the only way to truly waste water is to put it in your car and take it somewhere else or through evaporation.
Unlike somewhere like Denver, where wasted water ends up in Omaha, any water I waste here, say, washing my car, ends up in one our washes and then back to Lake Mead.
Now I'm no expert on water and I certainly don't know everything, but perhaps Pat Mulroy, who is doing a fine job heading up the Southern Nevada Water Authority, would care to address this issue sometime.
One other issue of note: If Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman can use approximately 1,000 times as much water as I use, why should I be concerned about a water shortage?
