SALT LAKE CITY -- Freshman Kim Chock's first career goal gave the fifth-seeded UNLV women's soccer team a 2-1 victory Wednesday against fourth-seeded San Diego State in the quarterfinal round of the Mountain West Conference tournament.
With its third consecutive victory, UNLV (9-9-2) advanced to today's semifinal match against top-seeded Utah, which received a first-round bye.
The victory was UNLV's first in the conference tournament since a 2-1 overtime win against Air Force in 2001.
Senior Erin Egerston opened the scored for UNLV at the 7:08 mark on a pass from Angie Inzana. Chock stretched the lead to 2-0 at the 66:12 mark and San Diego cut the lead in half at 72:23 on Jessica Korpela's header off a cross pass from Becky Prilaman.
