Parent company closes Las Vegas golf attraction

The Greens of Las Vegas, a golf attraction at Paradise Road and Tropicana Avenue that opened in July, is closed.
Greens Worldwide Inc., the company that operated the attraction, said the business ceased operations Friday.
The attraction featured an 18-hole natural grass putting course, a pro shop and a bar on a 23-acre site. The company, which had started offering cash-prize putting tournaments in September, planned to open five additional putting courses on the property.
"The business plan did not prove itself," said Connie Ross, chairwoman of Greens Worldwide. "The board of directors of Greens Worldwide Inc., after careful consideration, therefore, voted to cease operations to minimize further losses to the company and to others. Details will be discussed in the corporation's upcoming (Securities and Exchange Commission) filings."
Contacted today, Ross would not say how many people were put out of work by the closure.
Greens subleased land from ILX Resorts Inc., Phoenix, a developer of time share resorts in Arizona, Colorado and San Carlos, Mexico. ILX has a 50-year ground lease from McCarran International Airport on 44 acres known as Premiere Park at Paradise and Tropicana. Last month, ILX signed an agreement with Mark Advent's ACV International LLC to build a retail and entertainment development at the site.
