BC fire department gets federal grant

The Boulder City Fire Department was awarded a $113,760 federal grant for operations and safety programs, the Homeland Security Department Monday.
The grant was one of 453 given to fire departments across the country during the 20th round of the 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. A total of $29 million were given out during this round.
Overall, $750 million has been distributed to firefighters nationwide through the grant program, a statement from the department said.
The grants went to help pay for firefighting equipment, health and safety programs, medical service programs and fire prevention programs.
