Ultra-light pilot dies in crash
An ultra-light plane crashed and its pilot and sole occupant died on impact in a dry lake bed about 15 miles south of Las Vegas late Monday afternoon.
A Las Vegas man in his 40s, Barney Nemiroff, was flying about 300 feet in the air, witnesses told Metro Police.
The small plane pulled up sharply, then its left wing dipped and the craft crashed, witnesses said.

Vegas panel OKs massage rules
New requirements for massage establishments got the green light Monday from the Las Vegas City Council's Recommending Committee.
The city is proposing that massage establishments be required to obtain a special use permit in commercial areas. They would also have to be on a secondary thoroughfare or larger and would not be allowed within 400 feet of any church, synagogue, school, city park, child care facility or parcel zoned for residential use. A distance of 1,000 feet would be required between massage establishments, and hours would only be between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The item was unanimously pushed forward by the committee, consisting of Councilmen Michael Mack and Lawrence Weekly, and will get City Council consideration June 4.
