Early voting opportunity for June 3 municipal election ends May 30

While early voting for municipal elections began Saturday, there's plenty of time to go to the polls and cast a vote before the June 3 election.

Early voting ends on May 30, Clark County Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said.

A total of 2,692 Southern Nevadans cast votes on the first weekend of early voting.

Clark County Election Department records showed 1,798 people cast ballots on Saturday, with the Meadows mall attracting the most voters at 460.

On Sunday voter turnout dropped to 884, with the mobile team totaling 382 votes and the Meadows mall 357.

Lomax predicts about a 10 percent voter turnout countywide, and a 25 percent turnout for Las Vegas' Ward 1. In that race, incumbent Councilman Michael McDonald faces newcomer Janet Moncrief.

In addition, two Municipal Court races and the $50.6 million Las Vegas Clark County Library District bond question greet voters in Las Vegas. Those in unincorporated Clark County will vote only on the bod issue.

Voters in Las Vegas may vote only at City Hall, the Meadows mall or at a mobile site that changes daily, Lomax said.

Voters in Boulder City have a mayor's race, an at-large City Council race and three ballot questions, but do not vote on the library bond issue.

Early voters in Boulder City must vote at City Hall.

Mesquite voters have a mayor's race, an at-large City Council race and the library bond question. They may vote only at Mesquite City Hall.

Voters in unincorporated parts of Clark County have only the library bond.
