NLV hospital owner reports loss

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Tenet Healthcare Corp., the second-biggest U.S. hospital company, today posted a loss for the first quarter as it wrote down the value of some operations and government payments declined.
The loss was $20 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with net income of $278 million, or 55 cents, in the first three months of last year, the company said. Tenet owns Lake Mead Hospital in North Las Vegas.
