In regards to the proposed school budget cuts:
Fortunately, my kids are grown and out of school; however, I have friends and employees with school-age children who I'm concerned for. I find it hard to believe that a town this size, with the revenue and wealth we have, cannot find a better solution to this growing problem.
Eliminating librarians, the Gifted and Talented Education program, sports, etc., is not the answer to me. We constantly toy with the idea of bringing sports teams and building stadiums (which I agree with), but where are our priorities? We have boxing matches that generate hundreds of millions of dollars.
I have two proposals: Eliminate school buses and all-related areas. I know this will create a burden, but why be driven to a school with no education or programs? It's like going to a restaurant with no food!
How about charging $1 to each person who enters a casino? If we do not make edu cation a priority, our future is not bright.
