Police seek leads in shooting
Tuesday, May 13, 2003 | 9:51 a.m.
Metro Police were still searching this morning for at least one alleged gang member who shot three people and six cars outside the Hard Rock Cafe early Monday.
Lt. Cindy Galindo said detectives are having difficulty getting witnesses to talk. It's not clear if one or two suspects fired weapons, and they don't have a description of the suspect or suspects.
"We don't have anything yet," she said. "We know we're looking for at least one" suspect.
Detectives found 30 to 40 shell casings in the parking lot of the establishment, located at Paradise Road and Harmon Avenue.
The shooting happened about 3:30 a.m. Monday during a hip hop event at the restaurant. Galindo said a man walked in, waved a gun which appeared to be a Tec-9 semi-automatic handgun then went outside and began firing.
Two men were shot in the feet. They were treated at University Medical Center and released. A third man might have been shot in the arm, but police have not been able to find him.
There was an argument between the shooter and victims immediately before the shooting, Galindo said, but detectives haven't been able to link the two incidents yet.
The victims were gang members, but it's not clear if the shooting was a result of a gang-related dispute, she said.
