Dennis G. Atkinson
Dennis G. Atkinson, 58, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Jamestown, N.Y. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired musician and a Vietnam War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon G.; two daughters, Kellie Puentes of Somis, Calif., and Noelle Atkinson of Las Vegas; one son, Christopher Atkinson of Las Vegas; his father, John Atkinson, and one sister, Janet Garinger, both of Orange County, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in Foothills Baptist Church, 6405 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
Liborio 'Lee' BonJuan
Liborio "Lee" BonJuan, 73, of Las Vegas died May 5 in a Los Angeles hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Fitchburg, Mass. A resident for 44 years, he was a city electrical inspector, a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kraft, one brother, Philip BonJuan and one sister, Ida Tata.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Arlene; two sons, Dennis Griffith of St. Peters, Mo., and Terry Griffith of Sonoma, Calif.; one daughter, Wendy Kayser of St. Ann, Mo.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas. Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg, Mass., is handling arrangements.
Viola Augusta Chandler
Viola Augusta Chandler, 96, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 3, 1907, in Jacksonville, Texas. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Opal Holton of Las Vegas and Lucille Woodyard of Houston; one brother, Bill Arnold of Jacksonville; two sisters, Marie Cotton of Lufkin, Texas, and Louise Milam of Houston; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Texas, is directing out-of-town arrangements.
Norman Engel
Norman Engel, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 11, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 33 years, he was a chiropractor in Nevada, California, Arizona, Illinois and Kentucky, a member of Compassionate Friends, Nevada State Board of Chiropractors, Anti-Defamation League and achieved master gardener certification.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; two daughters, Deborah of San Diego and Brina of Las Vegas; one son, Aaron of Las Vegas; three sisters, Gladys of Las Vegas and Nikki and Susan, both of California; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Albert Henry
Albert Henry, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he was born Sept. 15, 1930, in New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; one daughter, Sandra Whitfield; two sons, Ryan Whitfield and Charles Watkins; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Elizabeth Norman
Elizabeth Norman, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born July 14, 1918, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired hotel housekeeper.
She is survived by one sister, Marie Chapman of Cleveland; and five nephews, Danny Patrick, Derrick Patrick and Darrell Allen, all of Las Vegas, Ronald Allen of Reno and Alvin Allen of Tucson.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Main.
E. Michael Souma Jr.
E. Michael Souma Jr., 48, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born April 4, 1955, in Roanoke, Va. A resident for 22 years, he was a floor manager in the gaming industry.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary Phillips of Buena Vista, Va., Carolyn Souma of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Rosie Hagen of Roanoke; and his former wife, Marsha Souma of Henderson.
Visitation is scheduled 3:30-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Bonnie Young
Bonnie Young, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born July 28, 1919, in Coon Rapids, Iowa. A resident for 49 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Gary Young of Las Vegas; three daughters, Judy Young and Darlene Donner, both of Las Vegas, and Linda Sweeney of Baton Rouge, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
