Former major league outfielder Chris Latham of Henderson arrived in Japan on Sunday after signing a one-year deal with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Central League.
Latham, 29, was released by the New York Yankees earlier this season and is expected to play a key role for the underachieving defending Japan Series champions, who are four games back of the Hanshin Tigers in the standings.
"I like to play the game hard and aggressive," the Basic High School graduate said. "That's the type of baseball I want to show the fans here."
Latham batted .202 with three homers and 19 RBIs in 110 major league games after making his debut with the Minnesota Twins in 1997.
