UNLV freshman Sunny Oh shot a school-record 67 and was tied for the individual lead Thursday after the first round of the NCAA West Region Championship at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Oh shattered the school's best single-round score by three strokes, a mark shared by herself and teammate Elena Kurokawa. The Rebels' ace carded six birdies and just a single bogey.
As a team, UNLV is tied for sixth in the 21-team field. The top eight teams advance to the NCAA championships, May 20-23 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Second-round play is scheduled today.
