Las Vegas Area Fishing Report: Anglers landing bass, catfish at Overton Arm

Anglers who have been trying their luck in the Overton Arm at Lake Mead have been having fair results for striped bass and channel catfish by fishing around Fish Island toward the Virgin Bowl and north of Overton Beach.
The Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) has also received reports of boaters catching and releasing largemouth bass while fishing in coves above Overton Beach Marina.
Fishing in the Boulder Basin has been somewhat difficult, possibly because the water level continues to decline.
However, some boaters have been finding success by fishing from the 33 Hole to Saddle Island. Chumming and fishing deep has been the best method for catching stripers.
The rainbow trout that were stocked last week headed to deep water, so the few anglers who were on hand for the plant were only able to land a handful of fish.
Fishing continues to be fair for stripers around Cottonwood Cove where boaters have been catching 14-inch fish with anchovies.
Pete Gill, park manager, said the upper campground and fish cleaning station are not yet open due to cold evening temperatures at the area. He anticipates all facilities will be open by the middle of the month.
