51s snapshot

For May 9, 2003

A 6-foot-3 left-hander from Southhampton, N.Y., Gulin has been helped by magnificent run support, as the 51s have generated 33 runs the last four time's he's stepped on the hill.

(Memo to struggling shortstop Gookie Dawkins: Your first three-hit game of the season Thursday night against Edmonton did not go unnoticed by us.)

A former Wisconsin Badger, Myers owns a 13-year minor-league record of 51-47. At 33 years, 10 months and 13 days, he is also the oldest 51s player, nine months older than starting pitcher Wilson Alvarez.

That solid play has given Las Vegas a Pacific Coast League-best record of 24-10. It lost, 9-7, to the Trappers on Thursday, but the 51s still rallied valiantly after facing an 8-2 deficit.
