CARSON CITY -- The Senate Judiciary Committee approved an amended corporate fraud measure this morning.
Assembly Bill 163, sponsored by David Goldwater, D-Las Vegas, increases penalties for companies that knowingly commit fraud.
The amendment, offered by Sen. Mark Amodei, R-Carson City, would have the measure apply only to publicly traded companies. Goldwater said this morning he would not accept the amendment, because he said most fraud occurs at companies that are not publicly traded.
