Chang gets wild card to French Open

Former Henderson resident Michael Chang accepted a wild-card entry to the French Open, which he won in 1989 for his only Grand Slam title. Chang, 31, plans to retire after this season and his ranking has slipped to No. 146.
Just 17 when he won on the red clay at Roland Garros, Chang was the youngest Grand Slam champion in history. His run to the final included a stirring victory against top-ranked Ivan Lendl, in which Chang served underhanded while battling leg cramps.
He has said his inability to maintain a high level on the court led to his decision to retire after 15 years on the pro tour.
The French Open starts May 26.
