In the 25 years since the first Atlantic City casino opened, the money from a 1.25 percent reinvestment tax imposed on the casinos has helped fund projects all over New Jersey.
The projects, by the state Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, have included baseball stadiums, day care centers, YMCAs and performing arts centers.
Some examples:
-New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark, $5 million for construction of a concert and entertainment facility.
-North Oraton Housing, a 42-unit housing development in East Orange, $1.39 million.
-Paterson Hope VI, a low-income housing construction project in Paterson, $3 million.
-West New York Community Center, in West New York, $478,000 for a renovation for a children's indoor sports and recreation center.
-Trenton Thunder baseball stadium, Trenton, $1 million for construction.
-Vietnam Memorial, Holmdel, $3.75 million for memorial and education center construction.
-Lakewood Day Care Center, Lakewood, $422,000 for construction.
-Brookville Boy Scouts, Barnegat, $275,000 for a new dining facility.
-Woodbine Airport, Woodbine, $569,649 for runway rehabilitation.
