CCSN wins opener in 10

A three-run rally in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday night gave CCSN a 4-3 victory against Salt Lake Community in the first game of their Scenic West Athletic Conference semifinal tournament at Lied Field.
The two teams play again tonight at 6. The tournament winner advances to next weekend's best-of-three conference championship against Southern Idaho or Dixie.
After Salt Lake took the lead on Russell Wall's two-run single in the 10th, CCSN rebounded with Calvin Beamon's RBI triple on the game's only extra-base hit. Beamon scored the tying run when Jason Ruiz's groundball was mishandled and after Mike Cruz sacrificed Ruiz to second, Sean Kazmar drove in the winner with a groundball single up the middle.
Matt Minor improved to 5-1 with the victory in relief of Jino Gonzalez, who pitched 9 1/3 and struck out 10.
