LONDON -- Sportingbet Plc, the U.K. Internet sports-betting company, today said it expects to take a 1.3 million pound ($2 million) charge this year after losing a court case in Australia relating to a customer account.
Sportingbet said it will appeal the decision. The company inherited the customer through its purchase of Number One Betting Shop in 2001, Sportingbet said in a Regulatory News Service statement. The company has 42 days to lodge an appeal.
