Suspect in slaying of two women hires attorney

Alfonso "Slinkey" Blake, the local R&B singer charged in the shooting that left two women dead and one woman critically injured, made his second appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court this morning.

Blake, 33, waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace Douglas Smith. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 22.

Blake also confirmed that he had hired defense attorney Pete Christiansen to represent him.

Blake faces two counts of murder with use of a deadly weapon in the March 5 deaths of Sophear Choy, 19, and Priscilla Van Dine, 22.

He also faces one count of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon in the shooting of Kim Choy, 23, who is recovering from gunshot wounds in the head and hands.

Family members of the victims attended this morning's hearing.
