Sun Prep Athletes of the Week: Wes Johnson and Kim Adams

Class: Senior
Sport: Baseball
Last week: Johnson, a top-flight right-hander for the Skyhawks, enjoyed a strong week on the mound in two Silverado victories. Johnson keyed the Skyhawks to a tough 3-2 win against Cheyenne in eight innings. He allowed just three hits and no earned runs, striking out 11 in the complete-game win. Johnson came back to strike out five in two innings of work to earn a save in a 3-1 win against Bartlesville (Okla.) Johnson also ripped two doubles in a 9-4 victory against Valley.
KIM ADAMS
School: Cimarron-Memorial
Class: Junior
Sport: Softball
Last week: Adams turned in three spectacular pitching performances for the Spartans, who won all three games and are off to a fast start. Adams went 10 innings to outlast Basic in a 9-3 win, striking out 11 and allowing five hits. She also knocked in two runs in the decisive 10th inning. Adams also stifled Clark, punching out 14 Chargers in a complete-game, 8-0 victory, and she tossed another three-hit shutout in a 6-0 triumph against Durango, striking out nine Blazers.
