May Department Stores Co. said it stopped construction on its Lord & Taylor department store at Fashion Show mall on the Las Vegas Strip.

May spokeswoman Sharon Bateman said plans for the Las Vegas mall store are uncertain.

Scott Freshwater, vice president and general manager of Fashion Show, which is owned by the Maryland-based Rouse Co., said mall officials are waiting for more information from May before making any plans for the Lord & Taylor space.

Lord & Taylor originally planned a fall opening, but recently postponed the opening to Spring 2004, before stopping all construction recently, Freshwater said.
