Dion ushers in ‘New’ debut

Celine Dion's highly anticipated and heavily hyped show "A New Day ..." made its debut Tuesday night at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Backed by 58 dancers and the largest LED screen in North America, Dion sang several of her greatest hits before a capacity crowd of 4,000 at the $95 million arena.
The hotel has a major financial stake in the pop diva, who will perform 200 nights per year with ticket prices ranging from $85 to $200. Her contract runs through 2005.
Tuesday's opening was broadcast as part of a CBS special (hosted by 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake) and celebrities who turned out for the hordes of local, national and international media inlcuded David Hasselhoff, Jane Seymour, Barry Manilow and Dick Clark.
