Vegas singer could face more charges in killings

The local R&B singer charged in connection with the shooting that left two women dead and a third critically injured made his first appearance this morning in Las Vegas Justice Court.
Alfonso "Slinky" Blake, who appeared before Justice of the Peace Douglas Smith, faces two counts of murder with a deadly weapon in the March 5 deaths of Sophear Choy, 19, and Priscilla Van Dine, 22.
He also faces one count of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon in the shooting of Kim Choy, 23, who is recovering from gunshot wounds in the head and hands.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Robert Daskas said more charges could be levied against Blake, 33, in the near future.
"Additional charges could be added once the discovery phase of the case is completed," he said.
Daskas said the state will not determine whether it will seek the death penalty against Blake until after the preliminary hearing, which has not been scheduled.
Blake, who is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail, told Smith he had not yet decided on a defense attorney.
A hearing to confirm private counsel is scheduled for March 27.
This morning's hearing came five days after Blake was extradited from San Bernardino, Calif., following his arrest in Barstow. He did not fight extradition.
Police allege Blake shot the woman execution-style in a desert area in southwest Las Vegas as the four were moving furniture and personal belongings from Blake's home.
Blake allegedly ran an escort service specializing in Asian women. He fled following the incident.
