LVCVA to resume TV ads

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority on Wednesday will resume its $17.2 million television advertising campaign promoting the city.

Terry Jicinsky, vice president of marketing, said the LVCVA affirmed its plan to restart its national and regional "Vegas Stories" campaign after a one-week hiatus.

"Based on preliminary data from the first weekend, we feel comfortable that the public will travel at least in short durations and that's relevant to us for the weekend getaway," Jicinsky said.

Last week the LVCVA decided to suspend television advertising, figuring that many TV viewers would watch coverage of the outbreak of war in Iraq. At the time, it was decided to suspend ads for a week and evaluate travel patterns before making a final decision on whether to continue.
