Letter: Comforting to see troops pray
Monday, March 24, 2003 | 8:40 a.m.
Last Wednesday I opened the front page of the Las Vegas Sun to a sobering picture by the Associated Press. The tank crews of the Alpha Co. 4th Battalion 64th Armor Regiment were on their knees in prayer before heading for the Iraq border.
Evidently no one was there to forbid them to pray. On the other hand, as stated in an accompanying article, their commander led them in a brief prayer. Evidently in training he had not been forbidden (under any circumstances) to pray or to lead those under him in prayer.
We are still one nation under God, for which I am thankful. I'm proud to be an American and an American who believes in prayer.
