Volunteers sought to help Health District programs

Friday, March 21, 2003 | 9:18 a.m.

The Clark County Health District is recruiting volunteers to assist with various programs, including the Clark County Medical Reserve Corps.

The Medical Reserve Corps consists of community-based health care-professionals who serve as volunteers during emergencies as well as helping to meet ongoing public health needs.

"We have a commitment to ensure the overall public health of the community," the county's chief health officer, Dr. Donald Kwalick, said. The volunteers help the Health District meet these needs, he said.

Medical Reserve Corps volunteers can be active, inactive or retired health professionals, students in health professions and others. People without health care experience may volunteer to provide basic support services.

The Medical Reserve Corps is a sub-unit of the Citizen Corps of the USA Freedom Corps.
