NEW YORK -- Liz Claiborne Inc. said today it plans to buy privately held Travis Jeans Inc., which does business as Juicy Couture. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Juicy Couture, of Southern California, generated sales of about $47 million in 2002. The company's upscale contemporary products are available in more than 840 specialty stores and about 280 department stores in the United States, as well as more than 300 international stores.
The New York-based Liz Claiborne said the purchase will add about 2 cents a share to earnings this year. A Thomson First Call survey of analysts yielded a mean 2003 earnings forecast of $2.50 a share for Liz Claiborne, which reported earnings of $2.20 per share for 2002.
