CARSON CITY -- Historical projects in Clark County will receive $320,000 toward their preservation, the state Commission on Cultural Affairs has decided.
The commission Friday allocated $2.1 million in grants to 25 buildings statewide. The largest amount, $200,000, went to the White Pine Historical Railroad Foundation, followed by $180,000 for the Oats Park School in Churchill County.
The commission allowed $120,000 toward restoration of the downtown post office in Las Vegas; $43,000 for the railroad cottage operated by the Clark County Museum; $100,000 for the preservation of the Moapa Valley High School gym in Overton; $25,000 for the aviation museum and $32,00 for the Mesquite old gym/rock house.
The commission did not approve applications for two other projects based in Clark County: the Moulin Rouge Museum & Cultural Center and the Los Angeles Water and Power Building.
