Creel census clerks reported good success for catfish at Overton Beach near the Muddy River. One boater brought in eight catfish that ranged from 2-8 pounds. Another angler also landed a few crappies in the same area. Worms were landing the fish.
Anglers fishing the Virgin Basin area were successful landing stripers that measured 14-16 inches. The bait of choice was anchovies. NDOW will stock Hemenway Cove, Pumphouse Cove (B5), North Saddle Cove (B3), and Horsepower Cove today.
Cottonwood Cove anglers also experienced good success this past week. An angler using anchovies landed stripers that weighed in at 19, 21 and 36 pounds. Another successful angler from Henderson, using an AC Plug, landed a striper that weighed in at 13 1/2 pounds and measured 24 inches. The fish was in shallow water.
A participant in a fishing tournament last week was successful landing a largemouth bass that weighed in at 6 pounds, 5 ounces.
