Poetry contest

Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Division presents the 24th annual Search for Talent contest at 2 p.m. Saturday and March 22 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission is free. 229-6211.
Lectures
Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will host a discussion about women's alternative career choices at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave. Admission is free. 507-4010.
Demonstration
Nevada State Parks will host a living-history demonstration, Washboard Washing, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. The program is free, but admission to the park is $5 per vehicle. 875-4141.
Workshop
Las Vegas-Clark County Library District presents Food for Health and Soul, a six-week workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays until April 7 at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 507-3989.
