Hopkins named coach at Mojave High

Tony Hopkins is the new Mojave High School boys' basketball coach, the school announced Wednesday.
Pat Welby, the Rattlers coach this season, will take the head coaching job at new Liberty High in the southeast part of the Valley beginning next year.
Hopkins comes to Mojave from Rancho, where he won a 4A state title with the Warriors in 2001. Hopkins compiled a 64-44 record in four years at Western. Before that, Hopkins spent six seasons at Rancho, going 106-60 and making it to the state title game against Durango in 1995-96.
