Carrier allowed to work on deal

A federal judge agreed Wednesday to let National Airlines of Las Vegas remain in Chapter 11 bankruptcy so the defunct firm could pursue a joint venture to fly people and cargo to the Russian Far East.
Bankruptcy Judge Linda Riegle made her decision after the trustee for the case recommended that the company continue in Chapter 11 for at least four more weeks.
The additional time would allow National Airlines to work out a potential deal with Northern Air Cargo Inc., of Anchorage, Alaska, which has been in business since 1956.
