Savvy wine buys: Regaleali Rosso ‘00
Wednesday, March 12, 2003 | 8:27 a.m.
Until recently the wines of Sicily were not taken seriously in this market, but with new techniques of winemaking, and American restaurant owners such as Piero Selvaggio of Valentino paving the way, these wines have made steady inroads with American wine drinkers.
Ruby red with a mouth-filling, lingering bouquet, this wine is made mainly from the little-known Nero d'Avola grape, a grape native to Sicily, and is an excellent value.
Available at Lee's Discount Liquor, $11.99.
