Tessa Rose Basciano
Tessa Rose Basciano, 17, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Overton. She was born March 10, 1985, in Cedar City, Utah. A resident for seven years, she was a student.
She is survived by her mother, Linda M. Basciano of Overton; her father, Burt J. Basciano, three sisters, Deborah L. Friger, Darchel R. Mohler and Daelyn M. Galloway, and one brother, Darrel B. Galloway and her paternal grandmother, Josephine L. Basciano, all of Las Vegas; and her paternal grandfather, Joseph A. Basciano of LaMesa, Calif.
Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Additional services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Jones. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
The family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
Zelma Laura Benavides
Zelma Laura Benavides, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Texas. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Domingo; two sons, Bryan Benavides and Keith Benavides; four daughters, Denine Benavides, Denise Resanovich, Lisa Gary and Monica Sandoval; one brother, Glen Kelly; two sisters, Zella Walton and Judy Kay Sherod; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 7811 Vegas Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Margaret R. Bonnee
Margaret R. Bonnee, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Toronto. A resident for 35 years, she was a retired retail checker.
She is survived by one son, Richard Michael; one daughter, Michele Nichols; two sisters, Frances Wilson and Joan Gingas, both of Canada; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Phillip Brosky
Phillip Brosky, 42, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1960, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a Hard Rock Hotel slot technician.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen M.; his mother and stepfather, Irene and Mike Brosky, one brother, Floyd F. Espinosa, and one sister, Maria Brosky, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Denise Eileen Carel
Denise Eileen Carel, 41, of Las Vegas died Feb. 18 in Las Vegas. She was born May 19, 1961, in Riverside, Calif. A resident for 20 years, she worked in casino sales.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Carel of Las Vegas; her father, James Robert Carel, one son, James Robert West, both of Corona, Calif.; and two brothers, Craig Carel of Indiana and Michael Carel of California.
Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.
Henry Castro
Henry Castro, 39, of Henderson died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 16, 1963, in La Mirada, Calif. A resident for 12 years, he was a painter in the construction industry.
He is survived by his parents, Henry and Evangelina Castro, one brother, Richard Lee Castro, and one sister, Veronica Lynn Castro, all of Henderson.
Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Rosary will be 12:15 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
James H. Colvin
James H. Colvin, 89, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Nebraska. A resident of Nevada for 70 years, he was a retired heavy duty diesel mechanic, an Army veteran, a member of Masonic Lodges 32 and 42.
He is survived by one son, Robert J. Colvin; two daughters, Angela Lease and Barbara Ciarlantini; one sister, Connie; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Erma B. Cunningham
Erma B. Cunningham, 90, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 26, 1912, in Granby, Mo. A resident for 52 years, she retired from Gordon McCaw Elementary School after 25 years of teaching, taught one-room schools in Beatty and Nelson and was a member of the local PEO chapter.
She is survived by four nephews.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m.. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Henderson.

Edna Earls
Edna Earls, 61, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born June 5, 1941, in Austin, Texas. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny McDonald of Aurora, Colo., and Marvin L. McDonald of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Cheryl D. Cherry of Tucson; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private services were handled by American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane.
Shirley Fraga
Shirley Fraga, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born July 23, 1924. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired sales clerk for Woolworth's.
She is survived by three sons, Edward Fraga, James Mills and Elgie Mills; three daughters, Theresa Fraga, Cherie Hampton and Lynda Mills; one brother, Richard Weigant; one sister, Jinx Havas; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private family services.
Quintin Hintz
Quintin Hintz, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Casper, Wyo. A resident for 33 years, he was a painter, a Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Frances; two sons, Bill Hintz of Puyallup, Wash., and Robert Hintz of Seattle; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.
Mary Johnson
Mary Johnson, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local health care center. She was born May 4, 1924, in Los Angeles. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired office manager for a dental office, a member of Los Prados Women's Club, Los Prados Bridge Club and Los Prados Swim Club.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Johnson of Las Vegas; one son, Glen Chynoweth of Fair Oaks, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
Carrol Sue Merrill
Carrol Sue Merrill, 60, of Boulder City died Saturday in Boulder City. She was born July 28, 1942, in Ogden, Utah. A resident for 25 years, she was a clerk for Central Market.
She is survived by one son, Richard Barton Merrill of Dolan Springs, Ariz.; two daughters, Kari Lusch and Kandi Surratt, both of Boulder City; one sister, Louise Garbarino of California; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday by the pool at Central Park in Boulder City. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, Boulder City, is handling arrangements.
Virginia L. Mills
Virginia L. Mills, 46, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 8, 1956, in Mobile, Ala. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Richardson; two sons, William Mills of North Las Vegas and Kendrick Mills of Henderson; her father, Daniel Chapman of Chicago; her mother, Chinetta Chapman of Mount Vernon, Ala.; two brothers, Larry Chapman of Las Vegas and Wayne Chapman of Castaic, Calif.; two sisters, Linda Bumbry of St. Louis and Kimberly York of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled noon-4 p.m. Sunday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be noon Monday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service.
Patsy LaDonne Pimental
Patsy LaDonne Pimental, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born June 23, 1941, in San Antonio. A resident for 24 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, John; one son, Jason Pimentel of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.
Batia 'Betty' Pluczenko
Batia "Betty" Pluczenko, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Poland. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker, was retired, was a member of the Jewish Community Center of Skokie, Ill., Farband Labor Zionist Organization and Pioneer Women Naamat of Chicago.
She is survived by two daughters, Carmela Mandler of Las Vegas and Drora Wainer of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Illinois. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

James W. Reno
James W. Reno, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Kewanee, Ill. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired director of security for the federal government, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Austin, Texas, and Masonic Lodge in Killeen, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; one son, Gary of Sandy Valley; two daughters, Kathryn Reno-Baro and Tina Gupton, both of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are pending at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Katherine Marie Richman
Katherine Marie Richman, 43, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 1, 1960, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was an accountant in the landscaping industry.
She is survived by two sons, Jayson Richman and A.J. Richman, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Alberta Hildebrand of Henderson; her father, Bill Nowack, and one sister, Nanette Knecht, both of Yerington; and one brother, William Nowack Jr. of Round Mountain.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Ruthelma Rubio
Ruthelma Rubio, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Dec. 21, 1930, in the Philippines.
She is survived by her husband, Paul.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Alex Taney
Alex Taney, 17 days, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born Feb. 20, 2003, in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his mother, Dwan Story, his father, Jacob Taney, and one brother, Ryley Story, all of Las Vegas; his grandparents, Ted and Dixie Story, Allen Taney and Debbie Robinson, all of Las Vegas, and Theresa and Juan Alonzo of Barstow, Calif.; and his great-grandparents, Boyd and Daisy Eliason of North Las Vegas, Marge Story of American Fork, Utah, Faven and Charles Taney of Las Vegas, Lou Maestes of Albuquerque and Cecilia Maestes of Barstow.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Bonita M. VanLeer
Bonita M. Van Leer, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 28, 1950, in Burlington, Vt. A resident for 22 years, she was a nurse practitioner and a member of the Las Vegas Jaycees.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; three sons, Thomas Sheppard and Todd Sheppard, both of Las Vegas, and Brandon Van Ler of Albany, Ore.; her mother, Louise Crowley Granger of Winooski, Vt.; four sisters, Judy Bourgt, Jane Granger and Teresa Granger, all of Burlington, and Monica Smith of Searchlight; and three brothers, Pat Granger, Charles Granger and Lee Granger, all of Burlington.
A memorial service was scheduled at noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Lindie Welch
Lindie Welch, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired cafe owner and a homemaker.
She is survived by four daughters, Emma Williams, Joann Welch, Theresa Welch and Barbara Welch, and one sister, Nobie James, all of Las Vegas; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
William E. Welch
William E. Welch, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Perdue Hill, Ala. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired harbor master for an international shipping company.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita I.; one daughter, Marilyn E. Ripley, and one son, Michael Roger VanLoon, both of Costa Mesa, Calif.; five brothers, Rayford Welch, Ralph Welch, Thomas Welch, Roy Welch and Ernest Welch, all of Alabama; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is private. A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
Twylah Woodrow
Twylah Woodrow, 87, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. A homemaker, she was born April 29, 1915, in Illinois.
