Man charged in rock throwing
A Las Vegas man has been jailed and charged with damaging government property after rocks were thrown at the glass door of the George Federal Building downtown.
Daniel J. Wilson has been charged with a federal misdemeanor and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 25. Wilson could face up to a year in prison on the charge.
Wilson was previously arrested on Jan. 29 on a charge of disorderly conduct after burning a flag outside the federal building, which houses the U.S. District Court. At the time, prosecutors allege, Wilson promised to return and break the courthouse windows.
On Monday Wilson was arrested by U.S. marshals, who said he threw rocks at the front doors of the building. The courthouse suffered no major damage.
Driver killed in one-vehicle crash
A man was killed Tuesday when the 2001 Jeep Cherokee he was driving toward McCarran International Airport failed to make a curve and hit a retaining wall, Metro Police said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity will be released by the coroner's office once the family has been notified.
A medical problem may have contributed to the accident, police said.
Red Cross helps bus crash victims
The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada has helped five families, including 14 adults and two children, after two tourist buses crashed about 80 miles southwest of Las Vegas Sunday on Interstate 15.
Many of injured were brought to Las Vegas hospitals.
Volunteers from the Southern Nevada chapter have provided lodging, meals and clothing. The Red Cross has spent more than $1,500 in disaster relief so far, spokeswoman Sharon Tutrone said.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency and receives no government funding. To help the victims of Sunday's bus crash and other local disasters, contributions can be made by calling 791-3311.
