Developer sues over land sale

The Lake Las Vegas master-planned resort community said today it sued to stop the U.S. Interior Department from delaying the proposed $11.9 million sale of land adjacent to the entrance of the Henderson resort.
Lake Las Vegas said it had agreed to obtain some 1,340 acres of land in 2000 for development of high-end homes, businesses and two golf courses through a two-phase land exchange with the Interior Department's Bureau of Land Management.
"The sale of the first phase of 355 acres is already completed. But the sale of the second phase, some 985 acres ... has been illegally delayed," said Owen Blicksilver, Lake Las Vegas' spokesman.
"Because that 985 acres is right at the entrance of the property, that would mean the master plan for the development is compromised and will impact on how the property looks," he said.
The defendant could not be reached for comment.
