BLM to hold land-use meetings

Clark County residents who enjoy recreational activities in Nye, Lincoln and White Pine counties will have the chance to give their opinions on how federal lands in those counties should be managed at a March 27 meeting in Las Vegas.

The public input meeting is one of the first steps in the Bureau of Land Management process to develop a resource management plan and an environmental impact statement for 11.4 million acres in the counties.

The Las Vegas meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the BLM office at 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive. Other public input meetings will be held across the state over the next month.

The plan could be completed in 2004 and could dictate programs on the land for the next 20 years.
