Letter: Let’s treat our guests better

The March 4 letter from Julie Mantyck, "Many cabbies in Las Vegas inconsiderate," says it all. It is time that the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority pays more attention to how we treat convention guests and tourists.
It's also time that the LVCVA has more respect for women than what its new televised commercial implies. In that ad, several men are sitting in a booth and one of the men looking at a waitress makes a demeaning comment about her. Convention authority officials say the ad was picked to get people to talk about coming to Las Vegas. But as a husband and father of three girls, I think it is in very bad taste.
The state boxing commission did an excellent job of denying Mike Tyson the right to fight here, which let him know that his bull is not acceptable. Hopefully the convention authority will open its eyes and change the way it promotes the area. It should start by letting the cabbies know that splashing tourists on rainy days is not acceptable.
Also, Metro Police needs to watch how cabbies pull from the far left lane in front of the middle travel lane and then turn right without using the proper lane to access entrances. Hopefully we won't have to count the victims before something is done.
