Letter: Honor separation of church, state

Las Vegas is fortunate to have a person like Mel Lipman here. His reason and rational thinking in his letters to the editor put a proper view on controversial subjects such as the pledge to the flag. People should understand that the words "under God" were added early in the 1950s.
The Founding Fathers did not want religion in government or government in religion. Just because there are cases such as the use of "In God We Trust" on our money or "... so help me God" in the swearing-in of public officials and witnesses in public trials does not make it legal. If the use of such language is challenged, in many cases it is eliminated.
The use or non-use of such language has become a political issue when it should be only a legal issue.
