Suspect in two killings awaiting extradition

Monday, March 10, 2003 | 11:16 a.m.

Murder suspect Alfonso "Slinkey" Blake is awaiting extradition to Las Vegas after he was arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday in Barstow, Calif.

A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy spotted Blake's vehicle early Saturday and stopped it, Metro Police Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

Police allege Blake shot three women early last Wednesday morning in a desert area in southwest Las Vegas, killing two of them, Sophear Choy, 19 and Priscilla Van Dine, 22.

A third woman, Kim Choy, 23, is recovering at University Medical Center with gunshot wounds in the head and hands.

Blake was a passenger in the 2000 Chevy Blazer when he was arrested Saturday. The woman driving the vehicle, Jinah Chung, and Blake's girlfriend, Bonnette Lim, were briefly detained and then released, Monahan said. They may face charges at some point in connection with aiding a fugitive.

Blake has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and three counts of kidnapping. He was expected to be arraigned Tuesday in San Bernardino County and face an extradition hearing later this week.

Blake, an aspiring R&B singer who friends say ran an escort service specializing in Asian women, fled after the women were shot.

Before doctors performed surgery on Kim Choy Wednesday, she told police she met Blake at Olympic Garden, where Sophear Choy worked, according to court documents.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, Kim Choy called 911 and said her sister was being beaten up. Dispatchers heard a male voice in the background saying, "Who's that?" then the line went dead, according to court documents.

Kim Choy told police Blake shot her and two other women in the head with a silver revolver, according to the documents.
