Letter: We must not abandon God
Friday, March 7, 2003 | 9:32 a.m.
I challenge any justice of the U.S. Supreme Court or any rabble rouser at the ACLU to show me where the U.S. Constitution prohibits Americans from praying anywhere they choose.
The First Amendment clearly states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." This means, for example, that Congress cannot pass a law making Catholicism or Protestantism as the nation's official religion.
Slowly but surely, Washington is eroding our liberties and we are letting it happen. If we as a nation abandon God, in time of national need I'm afraid God will abandon us.
