Zoning decision delayed on Strip timeshare proposal

Clark County Commissioners again have delayed consideration of zoning for a proposed 54-story timeshare development planned for the Las Vegas Strip.
Timeshare developer Westgate Resorts has applied for zoning approval for what would become the city's tallest occupied building, including more than 700 apartments and featuring a swimming pool, health spa, restaurants and 63,000 square feet of retail space on the first and second floors.
But some nearby property owners have objected to the project, citing traffic congestion concerns and other issues. One of the protestors, MGM MIRAGE, is planning its own condominium complex nearby.
The Westgate project would be near the MGM Grand resort and the Showcase Mall.
The county commission rescheduled discussion on the issue, which initially came before the board in January but has been held since, for March 19.
