Letter: Linking Saddam with al-Qaida
Wednesday, March 5, 2003 | 9:08 a.m.
During a recent anti-war protest a warmonger walked by me and barked "Remember 9-11!"
Iraq and 9-11 are about as linked as Madonna and Mother Theresa. But our administration would say otherwise.
It has many "links" to connect 9-11 and Iraq. A meeting with 9-11 ringleader Mohammed Atta and an Iraqi official in Prague, which never took place. An al-Qaida lieutenant received medical treatment in a Baghdad hospital. In northern Iraq, a fundamentalist group linked to al-Qaida operates terrorist training camps controlled by our allies, the Kurds. Iraq is giving terrorists chemical and biological weapons that haven't been found by United Nations inspectors.
I wonder what other "links" the administration will convey in the future. Will it claim it has DNA evidence that bin Laden and Saddam are biological brothers, or maybe produce photos of bin Laden and Saddam at a pool party in Tijuana? From the previous preposterous links the administration has given, I wouldn't be shocked if it did.
