Dennis Austin

Dennis Austin, 53, of Las Vegas died Feb. 6 in Las Vegas. He was born June 13, 1949, in Flint, Mich. A lifelong resident, he was a security officer in the gaming industry.

He is survived by his companion, Jennifer Harper of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

David G. Bruce

David G. Bruce, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 23, 1937, in Elyria, Ohio. A resident for 5 1/2 years, he was a retired auto worker, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of United Auto Workers Local 425.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette H.; one son, Michael Abraham of Oberlin, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Kathy L. Vick of Las Vegas; one stepson, Keith Hambly of Rising Fawn, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 12:40 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Thomas Paul Busby

Thomas Paul Busby, 52, of Henderson died Feb. 7 in Henderson. He was born Nov. 22, 1950, in Susanville, Calif. A resident for 28 years, he was a long distance truck driver and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by four brothers, Peter Busby of Henderson, James Busby of Murphy, Texas, Robert Busby of California and Richard Busby of Germany; and one sister, Diane Saffel of Murphy.

Graveside services will be noon Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Sherman E. Butler

Sherman E. Butler, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Utah. A resident for 51 years, he was a retired owner and founder of Butler Crane Service and was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association.

He is survived by his wife, Dora J.; one daughter, Tanya McMillan of Las Vegas; two sons, Dan J. Butler of Las Vegas and Kim J. Butler of El Cajon, Calif.; one brother, Harold W. Butler of Kamas, Utah; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

James C. Cain

James C. Cain, 61, of Las Vegas died Feb. 21 in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Evian Hill, Ala. A resident for 17 years, he was an electrician and Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah; two daughters, Yvette and Zina; one son, Brad; one sister, Ann Hudgins; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Thelma Coblentz

Thelma Coblentz, 91, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born April 21, 1911, in Passaic, N.J. A resident for 65 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Feld, and one son, Jonathan Coblentz, both of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Karen Kay Curtis

Karen Kay Curtis, 56, of Las Vegas died Feb. 24 in Sacramento. She was born Jan. 31, 1947, in Dallas, Ore. A resident for 16 years, she was a business systems analyst, a charter member and honored queen of the Jobs Daughters Bethel Lodge 75 in Oregon.

She is survived one sister, Myrna Johnson of Rickreall, Ore.; and her best friend, Rita Pridemore of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in Oregon. Dallas Mortuary Chapel, Dallas, Ore., is handling arrangements.

Robbin Hackbart Dowdy

Robbin Hackbart Dowdy, 47, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa. A resident for eight years, he was a U.S. Postal Service clerk.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah J. Hackbart; his father and stepmother, Louis and Patty Hackbart, and one sister, Sandy Meserve, all of Adel, Iowa; one brother, Mike Hackbart of Tulsa, Okla.; one stepbrother, Jeff Warford of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and one sister, Jody Warford of Adel.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be Iowa. McCalley Funeral Home, Adel, is handling arrangements.

Zandra A. Gaines, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 10, 1950, in Las Vegas. A resident for 52 years, she was a customer service representative for a security business.

She is survived by her husband, Billy; three daughters, Gabriyelle Gaines, Apryl Gaines and Kenyoni Gaines, one son, Michael G. Gaines, and her mother, Mattie McKinney, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Beverly Jean McKinney of San Diego; and four grandchildren.

Peggy A. Higgins, 39, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born April 15, 1963, in Hammond, Ind. A resident for seven years, she was a PBX operator at The Orleans.

She is survived by her lifetime partner, Carole A. Grassi; one brother, Patrick Higgins; and one sister, Nancy Truschke.

Barbara Lee Karas, 57, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A resident for seven years, she was born Nov. 27, 1945, in California.

Richard Lee Kellogg

Richard Lee Kellogg, 63, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for 20 years, he was a title insurance courier.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean; two daughters, Debbie Cochran and Jackie Summers, both of Henderson; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Donald William Lee

Donald William Lee, 61, of Pahrump died Saturday in Pahrump. He was born June 9, 1941, in California. A former resident of Henderson and most recently a Parhump resident for seven years, he was a teacher and police officer, a retired Vietnam War Army veteran, a member of the Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 4-H Club, Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; one son, Steven Lee of Pahrump; three daughters, Marie Kies and Darrien Lee, both of Pahrump, and Kelly Williamson of Texas; three brothers, Paul Rigney of California, Douglas Lee of Minnesota and Dale Lee of Idaho; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 4 p.m. service Thursday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road.

Erma Abbott LeMmon

Erma Abbott LeMmon, 84, of Boulder City died Friday in Boulder City. She was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Bunkerville. A resident for four years, she was a retail clerk for Savon Drugs for 19 years and sang in the Southern California Morman Choir.

She is survived by three daughters, Marcia Bangs of Orcutt, Calif., Merna Prince of Boulder City and Candace Arney of Pear Blossom, Calif.; two sisters, Odelia Ostergard of Boulder City and Jean Hughes of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bunkerville Cemetery. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, Boulder City, is handling arrangements.

Albert A. Lombardo Sr.

Albert A. Lombardo Sr., 71, of New Castle, Pa., died Saturday in Pennsylvania. He was born Dec. 20, 1931, in New Castle. A former Las Vegas resident for 13 years, he worked in the furnace room at National Steel and Pennsylvania Rolling Mills, the B&O and P&LE railroads and was a laborer, a Korean War Army veteran who received a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star and was a former member of St. Margaret's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Julia C. Staph Lombardo, one son, Albert A. Lombardo Jr., two brothers, Peter Lombardo and Edward Lombardo, and two sisters, Rose Tommasone and Nora Germanski, all of New Castle; and two grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, New Castle, is handling arrangements.

Herbert Lenowsky

Herbert Lenowsky, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 14, 1928, in New York City. A resident for seven years, he was a store manager at Kmart in Los Angeles and was a member of Del Webb Sun City social clubs.

He is survived by his life partner, Barbara Harris of Las Vegas; two daughters, Roberta Rifaat and Iris Wilsbach, both of Atlanta; one sister, Martha Schoeman of Forest Hills, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

Joyce S. "Jo" Malenky, 67, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Laconia, N.H. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, James Richard Malenky of Hawaii and David Michael Malenky of New Mexico; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Wood of Texas; one brother, Robert Delisle of Arizona; and eight grandchildren.

John Burl Maxey, 85, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. He was born May 3, 1917, in Iowa City, Iowa. A resident for 24 years, he was a farmer for 25 years.

He is survived by one son, Philip Maxey of Clarion, Iowa; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Teddy Ronald May

Thalia M. McMahan, 74, of Sandy Valley died Saturday in a local care center. She was born April 19, 1928, in Hornell, N.Y. A resident for eight years, she was a retired bookkeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Lesia Stalcup of Sandy Valley; four brothers, Chuck Holmes of Las Vegas, James Holmes of Alabama, Frank Holmes of Colorado and Terry Holmes of New York state; four sisters, Ruth Wallace of Arizona, Florence Howard and Rose Tilton, both of New York, and Bertha Gravanda of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Joachim Rigor of Alma, Ark.; one sister, Maureen Dolphin of Tucson; and one grandchild.

Timothy P. Shanahan, 54, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1948, in Los Angeles. A resident for 12 years, he was a dental technician and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Frances G.; one daughter, Maegan Shanahan, one son, Scott Shanahan, his father, Richard Shanahan, and two brothers, Danny Shanahan and Kelly Shanahan, all of Los Angeles; and one sister, Kathleen Shanahan of Ohio.

Bernice B. Strimling, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 6, 1911, in Chicago. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by three sons, Murton D. Strimling and Wayne R. Strimling, both of Las Vegas, and Arnold M. Strimling of Franksville, Wis.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Thelma Tourse, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born May 24, 1924, in Prescott, Ariz. A resident for one year, she was a retired cook.

She is survived by one daughter, Ethel Hampton of Las Vegas; three brothers, Earl Moss of Rockford, Ill., Johnny D. Moss of Campton, Ark., and Artie Velt Moss of Rockford; two sisters, Lucinda Richardson and Doshia Arberry, both of Rockford; and one grandson.

Patsy Villanueva, 55, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born March 14, 1947, in Ferda, Ark. A resident for 27 years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by three sons, Ron Johnson III and Jerry Parker, both of Las Vegas, and Gerald Yokcum Jr. of Taft, Calif.; one daughter, LaRhonda Johnson of Las Vegas; her mother, Marie Strawn of California; one brother, Floyd Strawn Jr. of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Stanley Wallis, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 23, 1936, in New York City. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired manager at a wallpaper store and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; and two sons, Neil Wallis and Bruce Wallis, both of Las Vegas.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in King David Memorial Cemetery.

Alice Martha Weber, 99, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1903, in New York City. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker and past matron of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeannette A. Kaatz; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
