MASHANTUCKET, Conn. -- Foxwoods Casino held a memorial service for two employees killed in the nightclub fire in Rhode Island.
That fire killed 98 when pyrotechnics from the performing band ignited the sound stage at The Station club in West Warwick.
Killed in the blaze were casino employees Jude Henault, 37 of Lisbon, an accountant, and Kristen McQuarrie, 37, a waitress who recently moved to Ledyard from Rhode Island.
"They were two individuals who gave as good as they got," Foxwoods Chief Executive Officer William Sherlock said. "They were part of the fabric of this place."
Several other casino employees also lost relatives and friends, who lived in Rhode Island.
Hundreds, including members of the Mashantucket Pequot Fire Company, attended Friday's service held in the casino's Fox Theatre.
