An unarmed man shot to death by Metro Police officers Friday was a five-time felon, police said.
Police said Orlando Barlow made sudden movements toward his waistband before the police shot him at about 3:45 a.m. Friday in the front yard of a Spring Valley home.
Officer Jose Montoya, a Metro spokesman, said Barlow was allegedly holding seven children hostage inside the home with a sawed-off shotgun when the children's mother called police from a nearby store.
Metro had not yet released the name of the officer this morning who fired the fatal round. The officer was one of four present who drew weapons during the incident.
